MPSC Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The MPSC exam is conducted and overseen by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission. They also conduct other exams. A few of them are the MPSC Subordinate Services, Class C Services, Agricultural Services, Engineering Services, Judicial Services, etc. The entire MPSC Marathi syllabus and exam pattern are given below. MPSC Exam Pattern – एमपीएससी परीक्षा नमुना

Before seeing the MPSC syllabus, let us first understand the exam pattern. Like any other state PSC, MPSC is also conducted in three parts:

  1. Prelims
  2. Mains
  3. Interview

Applicants will have to clear each round before they can be eligible for the next stage. The entire exam pattern for each stage is given below. Go through it to have a clear idea of how the exam will be conducted.

MPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

This stage comprises two objective papers which are compulsory. Both the papers will be conducted for 2 hours each. Check out the detailed exam pattern below.

Notes:

  • To qualify for the main exam, the marks of both the papers will be considered
  • Incorrect answers will be allocated a negative marking of 1/3 of the marks in both papers
  • No negative marking will be allocated to unanswered questions
  • Questions on decision making in Paper II will not have any negative marking in wrongly answered
  • Prelims are screening in nature
  • All questions will be in English and Marathi. Questions set to test the candidates’ knowledge of English will be in English only

MPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

Once you qualify for the MPSC prelims, you will be eligible for the main exam. In this, there are 6 compulsory papers. Two of them are language papers while four of them are general studies papers. MPSC Prelims Syllabus

MPSC provides just the topic names in the syllabus. This is the same for UPSC and all other states’ Public Service Commissions. As this is a state PSC exam, the main focus of the questions will be on Maharashtra. Preparing according to the syllabus and using the right strategy can help you ace the MPSC Prelims exam.

  • History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and the Indian National Movement

MPSC Mains Syllabus

MPSC Mains is conducted in 6 papers. Paper I and Paper II are language papers and Papers III to Paper VI are general studies papers. Each paper will be divided into various sections. Check the detailed paper-wise MPSC syllabus below.

MPSC Interview – एमपीएससी मुलाखत

Candidates who qualify for the MPSC Mains exams will be called to attend the personal interview. The interview will be conducted by a board appointed by the MPSC. They will check for certain fields.

  • The board of interviewers will have a record of the candidate’s interests and career – application form
  • Personal suitability of the candidate for a career in the state services by a board of competent and unbiased observers is the objective of the meeting
  • Candidates must be aware of the affairs happening both within and outside their state for the personality test
  • This interview is intended to explore the mental qualities and analytical ability of the candidate

Frequently Asked Question

1. Is knowledge of Marathi needed for the MPSC exam?
A. Yes. MPSC has compulsory papers in the Marathi Language. One paper on Class XII level for 50 marks (subjective) and another on Degree level for 50 marks (objective).

2. Does MPSC have subjective papers or objective papers?
A. The MPSC exam has both subjective as well as objective papers.  The language papers (English and Marathi) are subjective papers. General studies are objective papers. All are compulsory.

3. In which language is the MPSC exam conducted?
A. MPSC exam question paper will be bilingual. The questions will be both in English and Marathi. The questions asked to test the candidates’ English will be asked in English only.
